Jimmy "Chief" Duran is the creator of,  and primary songwriter for Dizzy Lizard. The idea evolved as a direct result of input from several friends and acquaintances. Our "hard sell" is that Dizzy Lizard is Austin's own Smooth Jazz band (a.k.a. contemporary jazz band). Truth be know, Jimmy, being the accopmlished musician that he is, writes both jazz, and contemporary jazz compositions. Dizzy Lizard has been fortunate to enlist the services of some of the best Austin talent, and even more fortunate to end up with Dan Cistone on bass, and Steve Mohacey on sax. This band, and the music, was created to entertain both large and small audiences.

Dan Cistone - electric & upright bass. Born in Philadelphia, home of Stanley Clarke, Grover Washington, Jr., The Brecker Brothers,... and the list goes on. In 1984 Dan joined the Army Band as a Trumpet player and went through a rigorous music & theory course at the Armed Forces School of Music in Norfolk, VA. After 20 years, Dan retired as a trumpet player, drummer, bassist, and a sound technician. Dan has played all around the world. He is a gifted and talented jazz musician playing - smooth, classic, straight ahead, fusion, big band and salsa. As Dan put's it "I'm bringing the Philly sound to Texas".
Steve Mohacey was born in Munich Germany but calls Texas home. Steve grew up in San Antonio. He attended North Texas State University, but finished his studies at The University of Texas at Austin, with a Bachelor of Music. He has played in bands with Peter Erskine, Bobby Shew, Bobby Mintzer, Adam Nussbaum, Diane Schuur and many others. As a member of the Armed Forces (20years/retired), he has literally traveled the world playing jazz. Steve has earned a reputation as a versatile saxman, gifted songwriter, and creative arranger. He is poised to step up and take his place on the larger international jazz scene.
